Synopsis

The Journal of Posthuman & Design Anthropology is a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal that adopts a posthuman anthropology and a design anthropology academic perspective. In a posthuman perspective, the modern human is questioned, and the future is built on economic, political, religious, and other ruins. The design perspective is future-oriented and invests in the material semiotic relations between the human and their environments, building upon critical perspectives on concepts, and investing in the cross-fertilization of polarized realities, as between humans and animals, and between humans and technology.

The Journal is interdisciplinary, both referring to anthropology as the discipline that uniquely interacts with a broad range of disciplines such as disciplines in the social sciences and humanities, and with disciplines such as architecture, communication, education, psychology and health. The Journal supports methodologies that include an empirical-academic approach, and in which living with, involving methods that benefi t transformative and dialogic-interactive outcomes. In tune with anthropology, we encourage contributors to work with individuals and communities, to favor views from the periphery, and to invest in situations of crisis and vulnerability.

The targeted audiences of readers are scholars who are interested in interdisciplinary areas such as disability studies, animal studies, science and technology studies, posthuman studies, and design studies.

JPDA is published in English and is Open Access.
